Q. Which is your largest cinema?

A.At the Regal, cinema 1 and 2 are identical hence the name Twin Cinema.

Q. Can I purchase tickets in advance.

A. Yes. Tickets may be purchased from the box office up to 8 days in advance of the films opening, even earlier for some block bluster releases. Note: buying tickets in advance guarantees you a seat to a particular movie but we do not reserve specific seats in any row.

Q. Can I purchase gift tickets.

A. Gift tickets will be available shortly.

Q. What is the difference between DTS, Dolby Digital and SDDS?

A. All three are major manufactures of digital playback equipment for motion pictures, but all three use different processes of data retrieval.

  • DTS use a time code stored on the film to synchronise playback data from a computer based optical and or hard drive into 6 discrete channels.
  • Dolby use a LED scanner to retrieve encoded data from between the sprocket holes of the film and playback into 6 discrete channels.
  • Sony Dynamic Digital use 2 LED scanners to read 2 encoded data soundtracks on each side of the film to replay into 8 discrete channels. There is no domestic equivalent of the Sony processor and it is regarded through out the industry as the supreme playback unit.

Q. Can my children see an MA15+ rated Movie?

A. Yes, but they must accompanied by a parent or guardian if they have not obtained the age of 15 years. Regal Twin Cinemas enforce classification polices set by the Australian Office of Film and Literature.

Q. How long will a movie play in a cinema?

A. The length of time any film is played is determined on the amount of business, contractual obligations and time of the year. In essence the more popular a film the longer a run.

Q. How long before the actual movie starts from the scheduled time?

A. Usually about 10 minutes. This can vary from 5 to 15 minutes depending on length of upcoming movie trailers & commercial commitments.

Q. How do I know which Cinema my movie will play in?

A. You can ask for Cinema number information at the box office prior to purchasing your ticket. The cinema number will be printed on your ticket also.

Q. Why do movie release dates keep changing?

A. Release dates are very volatile due to competition from different studios jockeying for position. Release dates are also tailored around your leisure time, eg. School and public holidays and major events.

Q. Do you offer group discounts?

A. Yes. For groups of 20 or more.

Q. Can I take BYO food and drinks into the Cinema?

A.  You may take any food or drink into the cinema that is the same as what we sell in our candy bar. All other food and drinks are prohibited.

Q. Can you rewind film on a cinema projector?

A. No. It is easier to travel in time.

Q. How fast does a film travel through a projector?

A. One and a half feet per second or 24 frames.

Q. How long and heavy is the average movie?

A. 12 thousand feet and about 25 kilograms

Q. Who invented the rolling loop principle that gave birth to the Imax
large screen format?

A. A Brisbane man by the name of Ron Jones invented the prototype which
was tested at the Eldorado in the 1960's and consequently adopted by the creators of
IMAX for their system.
